Be sure to visit the LMC during the Book Fair. All net proceeds will apply to school technology purchases and improvements. Consider this a fundraiser which benefits staff and students while shopping for some great books. You just can't go wrong with the gift of reading! It's a perfect fit.

I hope you've had a restful summer and are ready to return for another exciting year at La Grange Elementary School.

Class Lists: Students have been registering daily and others have been leaving. We ended the school year with 498 students. To date, we have 505 students. Names on class lists are changing daily and will be released from the office at student registration Aug 3rd and 4th and NOT before. Once lists are made public, no changes will be made.

Professional Development:
First PD Wed, 8/4. All Certified and Classified staff are to report to the library at 8am. Agenda will be provided at that time for the day. Classified staff return for the afternoon session at 11:30am. A continental breakfast, Paupers Lunch, refreshments provided. BYOC: Bring your own Cup

Jenson's book, Teaching with Poverty in Mind. Bring book with you on Aug 4th. See me if you do not have the book. Contents of the first three chapters will be the basis of discussion during this PD as well as the first Faculty Conference on Aug 16.

Fun, La Grange Elementary Family Social Outing: Sunday, August 8th at Tom Sawyer Park. 6:30-8:30. Meat will be provided. Please bring side dish to share. BYO Drinks. Any questions, call Debbie German 222-4245

Student Registration: "Registration Days" will be held in the cafeteria on Aug 3rd from 11-6pm and Aug 4th from 12-6pm and in the office Aug 5th & 6th from 8-3:30pm.

Ice Cream Social/Open House/PTA Meeting: Monday, Aug 9th 5-8pm. Teachers are expected to work in your classrooms and greet students and parents as they visit. Please have a "Welcome Letter" that includes your academic expectations for the students as well as a 'draft' schedule for your day. PTA will provide dinner. INstead of the traditional "Open House" this year, we are hosting Parent Academies, by grade level, that will have an academic/content area focus. Stay tuned for more information at a later date.

New Student Orientation: Monday, Aug 9th, 6:30

Opening Day: Tuesday, Aug 10th - Certified and Classified Staff: Agenda discussed on Aug 4th. More info TBA

First Day for Students: Wednesday, Aug 11th. Teachers need to be in the classroom no later than 7:25am greeting students and parents at the door.

Jeans Passes: Our local YMCA supports students and families in our community that extends beyond treadmills. The Y focuses on the total health and well-being of individuals. More specifically, our Oldham County YMCA funds the La Grange Community Center, sponsors many of our families with Y memberships and is hosting the first Health Fair for our registration next week. IN September the Y is hosting a golf scramble as a fundraiser. I have committed LA to purchase a hole for $125. To raise the money, I am selling Jean's Passes for $2/ea.
